OUTREACH TO
ARGENTINA BRINGS
SALVATION AND
HOPE TO
THOUSANDS OF
JEWS
TEN-DAY OUTREACH INCLUDED
MEDIA BLITZ, STREET
EVANGELISM, AND
JUBILEE CELEBRATION
(Atlanta,
GA) --On a resent outreach to
Argentina the Gospel message of Yeshua (Jesus) was brought to thousands of
Jews and marked the beginning of a new and powerful outreach to South
America.
“This
trip was a tremendous success, exceeding our expectations,” said
Messianic Rabbi Scott Sekulow, Outreach Director.
“We were warmly received by the Jewish people of Argentina, many
of whom accepted Yeshua as their Messiah.
We wanted to take a message of love and hope to Argentina where
many Jewish people fled from the persecution in Europe after the Second
World War. Our message was
very well received.”
A
52-member team from the United States and Great Britain traveled to
Rosario, a city of one million people located northwest of Buenos Aires.
In addition to Messianic Rabbi Scott Sekulow, the team included
a number of well-known Christian artists and media personalities
made the trip including Hosanna recording artist Paul Wilbur, the musical
groups Nagila and Yehudi, and Jamie Lash, host of Jewish
Jewels, a television program broadcast on Christian stations across
the U.S.
The
trip to Rosario, Argentina included an extensive media campaign, street
evangelism, five festivals of Jewish music and dance, and what is believed
to be the largest celebration of Israel’s Jubilee in South America.
Nearly 100 local residents assisted team members during the
outreach.
Among
the many highlights of the ten-day outreach:
-
Touching Thousands of
Lives – Team members preached to more than 10,000 people.
The outreach resulted in more than 1,000 people – many of
them Jews – accepting Yeshua as their Messiah.
More than 2,500 people indicated they would like to receive
more information about the Messiah. And thousands more joined in song, dance, and celebration in
venues throughout the city of Rosario.
-
Humanitarian Aid –
Team members visited Hogar Camino a la Vida, an orphanage in Rosario,
which houses 22 teenaged girls. In
addition to providing uplifting song and testimony, We provided funds to help with the renovation of the orphanage.
At the same time, the ministry provided the young girls with
new shoes and funds for school supplies.
-
Media Blitz – More
than 100,000 flyers promoting the outreach were distributed.
Some 6,000 posters were displayed around the city. Hundreds of
radio and television ads were broadcast to help promote the events.
And, some 6,000 copies of a Spanish-version of David
Chernoff’s Messianic Judaism
Questions & Answers were distributed.
“The
festival helped restore a joy and pride in being Jewish,” said Sekulow.
“Due to past anti-Semitism and bombings at Jewish facilities in
Buenos Aires, many Jewish people had kept their Jewishness private and
guarded. Our team members –
through preaching and the use of Jewish songs and dance – were able to
reach out to many of these people. The
fellowship and bonding was very powerful.
This outreach marks the first of what we pray will be many trips to
Argentina to share the Gospel of Yeshua with the people there.”
Sekulow
said the Argentinean trip cost $100,000 and was funded through donations
and gifts. Sekulow said more
trips to Argentina are in the planning stages and trips to other countries
in South America are under consideration as well.
